Hi there, and welcome to ocean code!
Mangroves are quite slippery and marine ecosystems provide interesting healthcare services for local communities around the world. That's what I learned during a field trip to the Oprama creek at Buguma, Rivers State. Since that peculiar trip as a 3rd year Fisheries student in 2021, I've developed a strong interest in how marine-derived bioactive compounds with therapeutic properties are playing big roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
After graduating as a fisheries biologist last year, I've spent time studying marine biotechnology and its applications in global healthcare. This blog is dedicated to a plethora of areas that form my research interests including marine biotechnology, marine natural product discovery, marine chemical biology, and bioinformatics. Of course, the blog will also cover marine conservation because how can we discover new marine bioproducts if we do not preserve marine biodiversity?
I'm not an expert, so Ocean Code is my attempt at sharing knowledge as I learn. Whether you're a researcher, a student, or just someone who loves the ocean, I hope that Ocean Code provides some value to you.
Thank you for being here. Let's decode the ocean, one blog post at a time.
Warmly,
Mmazule.
